St. Mark's & Christ Church Fitchburg Worshiping together. Choirs led by Robert S. Potterton, III

If this is your first time at an Episcopal Church, or even in a Christian Church, please know how welcome you are.

Episcopal worship is liturgical. That means there are specific rituals and prayers with which Episcopalians follow. This connects local worship with worship across the world through the Worldwide Anglican Communion. Episcopalians, stand, kneel, sing and sit at specific times during worship. Episcopalians pray and sing some words from memory, others are read from the Book of Common Prayer or a hymnal.

Don’t worry if you don’t know when to move or are not able to move easily. At St. Mark’s everyone is invited to move in body or spirit. Furthermore, every worshiping member has had a day that they have not remembered what prayer comes next. Feel free to adopt the your own personal posture of prayer letting the words of communal prayer and song lead your heart and soul in worship. You may ask a person sitting near you for guidance; St. Mark’s members are always happy to welcome new worshipers.

Our 8 a.m. Service is Rite 1 and has a strong following amongst those seeking a more traditional format. At 10 a.m. we have a Rite 2 Sung service using a mixture of traditional and more modern worship hymns. Our Healing Team is available each Sunday during communion for those who wish to have prayers. We have a healing service once a month. We also use a power point to project our 10 a.m. service. We worship midweek on Wednesday evenings.
